Leaves
Call
the shire-reeves
There are
too many
beyond the bar
Like a penny
Each has little weight
But they begin to grate
They must be removed
But the rain has them grooved
Crushing down on the flat-rooved
Waiting for a break
In the weather
To shake
off the leaves
with the help of those shire-reeves!
 

2. Don´t you imagine the leaves dream now
Of all that summer chow
Now that the sun is so weak
The outlook is very bleak

Soon they will die
Blown through the sky
To rot into the ground
As the earth turns round
Food for the earth
To broaden its girth!
